For children, young people and adults
I have over 30 years’ experience teaching and performing at a professional level. Lessons are tailored to each individual, whether your focus is Jazz, Blues, Latin and World music, or Classical and beyond.
I specialise in brass performance at conservatoire level, including technique, sound development, improvisation, stylistic awareness, and audition preparation.
I have supported many students in gaining places at world-renowned institutions, including Trinity, the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Leeds Conservatoire, Juilliard School, and Berklee College of Music.
ADULT STUDENTS
I teach adults at all levels, from beginners to professional musicians.
An initial lesson helps determine the appropriate level, goals, and lesson frequency.
Lessons can be arranged flexibly, from weekly to monthly, depending on your needs and availability
Face-to-Face Lessons
Teaching approach & experience
I offer high-level tuition for children, young people and adults, from complete beginners to advanced and professional players.
My teaching combines:
- Solid technical foundation
- Sound production and control
- Stylistic versatility (Jazz, Classical, Latin and beyond)
- Improvisation and musical language
- Audition and conservatoire preparation
I have extensive experience preparing students for graded exams (ABRSM, Trinity, Guildhall), with consistently strong results.
Having taught at higher education level, I understand the demands of auditions and the expectations of leading music institutions.
I also welcome students who wish to explore the instrument without the pressure of exams.

Finding Michel was a wonderful mix of delight and relief.
My son had been going to school trumpet lessons for a year but still couldn’t play a note.
Within the first hour Michel had him playing, engaged and happy - magic! Michel brings soul into my son’s life (and mine) through his experience as a musician and his musical influences.
The pieces he chooses are brilliant. My son has become a proficient trumpeter and plays in a big band which has been a big boost of confidence and identity. We look forward so much to each lesson.
Michel’s talent as a jazz trumpeter is matched only by his enthusiasm to teach Trumpet… which he manages to do in a totally non-parental way - instead he inspires and enables through demonstration and accompaniment. He’s so good at noticing improvement and helping students through difficult patches. Whether its jazz trumpet with loads of improvisation and help with cool riffs or classical grades, Michel is equally at home and he’s a good judge of his students, knowing when to push and when to introduce something new. If you or your child need a passionate, committed and inspiring trumpet teacher who isn’t just trudging through lessons to pay the bills, then I’d wholeheartedly recommend Michel Padron…. And the other bonus is that you get to listen to an impromptu jazz gig almost every week as Michel demonstrates and inspires…,
